Once We Drank the Sun, a poem
How beautiful it would be
if the grasses always grew green?
the sun, always its flaxen yellow?
And once we drank the sun
days long in the summer
perhaps the sweetness is still on your lips
The strawberry smiles
and the sparkling light eyes
feel like something from a dream
but flavour comes back, in the strangest of times
to remind us that, in fact, it was not
